Hatteras Light was the one that started it all. Mom showed Jeffrey the funny tall lighthouse at the age of 11 months and eventually he smiled and pointed with excitement. Jeffrey nearly climbed the lighthouse, America’s tallest at 208’, at age 2, but lost his nerve on the way up the staircase. After it was moved in 1999 to save it from erosion, Jeffrey finally climbed Cape Hatteras Light at age 5.
