The education that Jeffrey got at Point Judith is that if you put your ears directly in front of the fog signal, it is VERY VERY LOUD!
In the post 9/11 era, many coast guard stations including Point Judith closed their gates and sealed off their grounds. Access may or may not be allowed to active coast guard stations. It is hoped that wickies can access their beloved lighthouses while preserving national security.
Lighthouses 64-69 The RIPTA boat. The Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) has ferry boats that go from Providence to Newport on a schedule. This is a convenient way to see many lighthouses along the Providence River…too many to count it seemed…and is how we saw lighthouses 64-69. This may be the best way to view the Pomham Rocks Lighthouse and its beautiful rock outcrop. |
