Our port-of-call for the RIPTA boat, Goat Island Light is prominent in Newport harbor. Waiting for the return trip to Providence on a muggy afternoon, we went into shops, ate a seafood lunch (Jeffrey prefers a burger) and toured downtown. Tall church steeples, brick and cobblestone, as Don Henley once wrote “the Old World shadows hang heavy in the air”.
