After doing some crazy things with our vehicle (a recurring theme in lighthouse spotting), we glimpsed this lighthouse from behind the gate. The following day, Jeffrey had one of the more authentic and complete tours of an active lighthouse. The grounds include a building with Coast Guard and military surplus, and a couple of other lighthouse beacons. Inside the lighthouse, there is fascinating display of armed forces memorabilia and an extensive history of the Dunkirk Light. Warning: the ghost of a lighthouse keeper still hangs in the shadows…
