Back to Jeffrey's Lighthouse Visits

Point Lookout, Lexington Park, MD - winter 2001

This lighthouse is only open to the public one afternoon per year, the first Saturday in November. Contact Point Lookout State Park for details. The first time we came here, we were greeted with the fence that spans from the Potomac to the Chesapeake, then we vowed to return on November 3, 2001 and did so. The nearby area of Fort Lincoln was used as a Confederate POW camp during the Civil War and over 4,000 rebels died there. Warning: the basement of the lighthouse is notoriously well-ghosted.
