One of the most convenient lighthouses to reach, it is less than a mile from the New York State Thruway. Barcelona Light has a funny story behind it. The Federal government had appropriated funds for the construction of Barcelona Light to guide ships into Barcelona harbor. The lighthouse was built, despite the fact that, uh, Barcelona did not have a harbor. Currently on a private residence.
