Dunkirk Lighthouse, Dunkirk, NY - August 27, 2001

Jeff spotted Dunkirk Light on August 27, but the grounds were closed. The following day, he had one of the more authentic and complete tours of an active lighthouse. The grounds include a building with Coast Guard and military surplus, and couple of other lighthouse beacons. Inside the lighthouse there is a fascinating display of armed forces memorabilia and an extensive history of the Dunkirk Light. Warning: the ghost of a lighthouse keeper still hangs in the shadows…
